Work permits are legal documents that allows the foreign national to take part in work while in Canada. Every each year Canada gives around one million work permits for temporary foreign workers across the globe.

Canada is a top destination for many foreigners who are looking for work. Being employed with Canada is also a great starting point for those who want to move to Canada for a long time.

The majority of foreign nationals need the approval of a permit for work Canada however, there are some exceptions.

In order to apply for a work permit, the majority of applicants will require an official Canadian job offer that is accompanied by an Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). There are exemptions to this requirement when foreign workers are able to submit an application for a work permit with or without the need for an LMIA or a job offer. Examples include an incoming graduate of the Canadian Designated Learning Institute (DLI) or spouse of someone already holding the Canadian study or work permit.

Candidates who are eligible to apply for an employment permit must satisfy the following requirements for eligibility:

  • Indicate their intention to quit when their authorization to work expires and

  • Make sure they have sufficient funds to

    sustain them and their family members in Canada and then return home.

  • Are not medically or criminally not admissible to Canada as well

    as

  • Plan to collaborate with an employer that is eligible; and

  • Are able to provide any required documents that can establish their eligibility to be admitted to Canada
